Momma's little gardener

This morning at our garden class we pulled up a few strawberry plants to plant at home. Daddy came home from work early today so we all got participate in planting our new garden. We also planted a tomato plant and basil and a few rogue flowers that sprouted out of know where. Muffin had a ball digging in the dirt and filling the pot and then watering with her own watering can. She was soaked and dirty, but a grinning fool!

Our first pool experience was a hit!

How is this not the BEST picture I could have possibly taken today!? I took the Muffin to the community pool today for her first big water experience with a friend of mine and her two kids. We had an awesome time and the Muffin just loved it! There is a little fun park in the toddler area that has a zero depth pool and sprinklers that come up out of the water. This was one of the more mild ones and the Muffin thought it was such a hoot! She spent the whole afternoon running around the deck, and along the shore, and up and down on the step. Momma is EXHAUSTED!! The Muffin was exhausted too. We came home an hour before bedtime and as I was putting her jammies on she said to me "nigh nigh"! She was so tuckered out!

Our Visit to the Zoo

Today we went to the Toledo Zoo with our cousins. This year Muffin seemed to really get into the event and enjoy herself looking at all of the animals, and some rocks and leaves too. She took a special interest in the aquarium, the primates, the polar bear and the elephants. We even road the carousel and the safari train. Both of which she really liked.

This is some lizard. The muffin wasn't allowed to touch any of the lizards or crocs because she was too young and her immune system wasn't sufficient enough. Guess I shouldn't let her pick up the frogs either then!!

There were a ton of statues along the way. In this photo Muffin is IN the arms of a bear!

I don't think she was ready to get off!

This is the dominant Silver Back Gorilla. At one point he chased another gorilla away, and then came charging at the window pounding his chest! It was AWESOME!!

Some of the apes just laid around and relaxed. This one had his feet crossed up on the glass!

On the Safari Train where we saw Zebra and Giraffes!

The polar bears were pretty cool! Here she is about 3 feet in front of a model one. She ran up to it, and then came to a screeching halt and turned to look at us. Guess she realized how big it really was once she got up close!!

She took a real interest in all of the exhibits and got up real close to the window.

There was a small goat petting area. The muffin is fearless and runs right up to everything she can! Maybe she thought they were dogs. And they're half the size of Kaida... Why would she be scared! LOL!

She got a real kick out of this huge aquarium. I know she loves looking at the fish at Grandma's house, so I got her up real close. She thought they were great till this odd looking thing darted right up to her. Then she freaked a little!

The aquarium was pretty cool. She really liked the sea horses a lot too. I couldn't get a good shot of those. All in all I think she had a great time at the zoo with her cousins. I look forward to being able to take her back soon.

A Fun Filled Day with Cousins

Over this past weekend we had cousins in town. We had a lot of fun doing several activities. Here are pictures from our visit to the Alpaca Farm again, and then the Festival in town.

The muffin just KNOWS someone it coming to visit her. Here her and Kaida wait patiently for our guests.

Then on Saturday we went to the local Alpaca Farm.

THIS is an Alpaca! They don't have any top teeth!

Muffin is a pro at the Alpaca farm. Her cousins T and J were a bit more skittish.

J didn't seem to mind the Alpaca, as long as the Alpaca wasn't paying HIM any mind.

The Muffin was showing her Daddy the baby Alpacas.

After we left the Alpaca Farm we went to the local festival where T & J got to steer a fire hose and knock down "flames" in a burning house.

It was a VERY long day and everyone was wiped out.

Poor J was so tired he didn't even care that he was sleeping on Kaida's bed!

Muffin gardening

I signed the muffin up for a toddler gardening class on Friday mornings. Last week was her first class. She loved it! There are about 20 other toddlers in her class. She got to play in a fish of potting soil, then she planted radish seeds in the shape of her initial, and the got to dig in the dirt out side, pick strawberries and roam around in the community garden. The community garden was by far her favorite event. She wandered around touching all of the flowers and garden decor. She picked up petals that had fallen on the ground and handed them to me. She freely walked herself up and down the garden paths chatting to herself and smiling all the while.
